Environment is one of the most pressing issues of our times.
Documentaries have always mapped human history in context of the foremost concerns. Today we have filmmakers focussing on environment and wildlife stories and they need the support to discover new opportunities for development, funding and reaching audiences. Green Stories hopes to bring in storytelling and untold stories around the environment from this part of the world to the forefront and introduce their work to new audiences and markets.
We have a great community of existing and emerging filmmakers working on wildlife and environment films in India and Southeast Asia. We hope that Green Stories helps to expand this community and helps generate powerful stories on diverse aspects of the environment. It is a turning point in history where we have to work towards rebuilding our natural systems. We feel it is an important moment in time to launch Green Stories.
We stand at a critical juncture in human history where the fate of our planet hangs in the balance even as we grapple with the formidable challenges of climate change, environmental degradation and social inequality.
Looking at the issues, we may feel overwhelmed and powerless but it is precisely in these moments that we need to come together and share our stories, concerns and fears. There is also a need to share our experiences, amplify our voices. Films are the best and most effective tools of change. They make a difference. I know how some have helped initiate positive action across the world in the shortest time.
There is a need for a space where we can come together, connect and inspire collective action.
Platforms like GREEN STORIES that will ignite the sparks that will trigger transformation - little steps that would help to restore the fractured earth. Remember even the volcano started with just one tiny spark !!
The platform is not just a dream, it's a necessity..lets harness the power of storytelling to drive change..celebrate our diversity and find unity in our shared humanity…to inspire, motivate and protect our only home in the universe…The Earth.
